Harris: Supreme Court Overturning Roe v. Wade Is A ‘Health Care Crisis’

During an interview with MSNBC’s Joy Reid on Sunday, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) warned that the possible overturn of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court would be a “health care crisis.”

“We have to understand that the right to choose is on the line,” Harris said. “It is under assault in a way that it has not been since Roe v. Wade was decided. And we have got to understand, this is a health care crisis. This is about women’s health care. It’s about our ability to make our own decisions about our bodies.”

She added, “We have got to fight like hell to protect Roe v. Wade.”

Reid asked, “What do you say to women who are out there who may not consider themselves pro-choice, who may be on the fence about this issue, who may have voted for Donald Trump? What do you say to them about what’s at stake?”

“I say that this is about health care,” Harris replied. “This is about our ability to make our own decisions. And the truth of the matter is, the majority of Americans do not want Roe v. Wade to be overturned. The majority of Americans believe that a woman should have the right to make her own decisions about her body.”

“So, I say to them, this is about health care,” she continued. “This is about our ability to make our own decisions. And if we do not fight for this, if we do not protect Roe v. Wade, then we are going to see a situation in America where women are criminalized for making their own health care decisions.”

Vice President Harris addressed the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and warned it could cause a “health care crisis” in the country and impact the right to privacy for Americans. » Subscribe to NBC News: nbcnews.to/SubscribeToNBC
