Masturbation key cause of erectile weakness
A new study has suggested that masturbation could be the key cause of erectile dysfunction.
The research, which was conducted by the University of Zurich, found that the more men masturbated, the greater the likelihood of them suffering from erectile dysfunction.
The study, which is the first of its kind, looked at a group of 3,400 men who were aged between 18 and 59.
Of the men who participated in the study, around one in 10 reported having erectile dysfunction.
However, the study found that those who masturbated more than five times a week were more than three times as likely to suffer from the condition.
The study’s lead author, Dr. Michael Lauer, said that the findings suggest that masturbation could have a “negative impact” on erectile function.
Dr. Lauer said that the findings “support the concept that excessive masturbation might lead to a desensitization of the neural pathways involved in erections”.
He added that the findings could have “important implications” for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
The study was published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine.
